1. I was recently gifted this duo by my best friend, which she bought during her solo trip to South Korea. These can be bought as a set or on their own, and I’ve included a couple of links to sites where you can acquire them for yourself in this post.

These two products claim to help to improve the elasticity, radiance, and the moisture of your skin with egg white and yolk extracts-I used to use egg whites on my nose and cheek area to tighten/firm, and these products ought to work the same way. I’ll see if they really do hold up to their claims!

egg mousse pack and soap, too cool for school

The Egg Mousse Pack: a whipped foam facial mask made from egg white and egg yolk extracts- smoothens and brightens skin.

This whipped, meringue-like mousse facial mask enriched with egg white and egg yolk extracts instantly transforms rough, dull skin into a smooth, radiant complexion in as little as five minutes. Egg white extract purifies and brightens, while egg yolk extract leaves skin hydrated and silky smooth. This unique, frothy facial mask deeply moisturizes and enhances the use of other skin care products for beautifully luminous skin. It contains no Sulfates or Phthalates. (Sephora.com)

My experience:

Out of the two, I was least impressed with this one. It left my face feeling soft, but I wouldn’t say it was any more hydrated or radiant than it was previously. I wasn’t really a fan of the smell, either. It smelt like grapes for some reason and I felt a mild tingling sensation.

I tried two ways of applying, since I looked up reviews after my first application and apparently it is recommended that you continue to massage the mask in instead of applying and leaving it on (like a scrub). I didn’t notice any difference, honestly.

I will probably continue to use it, but it didn’t wow me in any way. I did like how the mask expelled in a nice blob of foam (you only need to press the nozzle a little, it is very sensitive) and it was the right amount for my face. I love Lush’s face masks, but I’m not a fan of the constant dipping- especially with long nails, the mask gets trapped under your nails and it’s honestly quite unhygienic. No fuss with this one 🙂

The Egg Mousse Soap (facial cleanser): A whipped egg white mousse cleanser infused with egg yolk extract that gently hydrates, purifies, and replenishes your skin.

This creamy, meringue-like cleanser combines milk proteins, amino acids, and egg extracts to thoroughly cleanse your skin. Tiny particles are able to go deep into the skin, not only to dissolve oil and dead skin cells, but also to nourish for long-lasting smoothness and hydration. Egg white extract purifies, tightens, and brightens while egg yolk extract moisturizes. Your skin is left thoroughly clean, hydrated, and glowing. (Sephora.com)

My experience:

I liked this a lot more than the mask pack. Like the mask, the nozzle dispenses dense, white foam. I liked the scent a lot more, but you should be warned that like most of the products Too Cool for School has, their fragrance is quite strong. If you are someone who dislikes scents in anything skincare-related, I would advise against getting it.

The dense foam meant that I could easily reach awkward crevices and such, which I usually have to use a brush or foaming net to do. The nozzle dispenses a tad bit too much foam in one pump if you’re not careful, so use a light hand.

I rub in and massage, and my skin feels soft and supple afterwards. It is not a heavy duty cleanser, and I use it after removing all my makeup (certainly does not budge my waterproof mascara much).

I like that my skin does not feel uncomfortably tight like some cleansers leave me feeling, but I would not say you can entirely do without moisturiser altogether. Use your regular toner/ serum/ moisturiser after cleansing.

I am currently using the botanical toners from Garnier’s SkinActives range, which I will introduce in my August favourites at some point. I follow up with The Body Shop’s Vitamin E moisture cream (review here).

Other similar products:

I have also used Tonymoly’s egg pore range, of which I still use the Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm (review here). I wasn’t that impressed with the Tightening and Cooling pack or the Blackhead Steam Balm from the same range- but then again, I do not have very visible blackheads. The steam balm and smooth balm smells lovely, which is a huge plus for me since I have to leave it on my face for a while.

If you live in Singapore, you can buy the whole range on Qoo10 here ($5.99/$8.99 SGD).

I have also tried the Skinfood Egg White Pore Foam (150ml), which I wouldn’t say particularly impressed me. It was a cleanser that did its job, but that was pretty much it. It was a little drying, but probably more deep-cleansing than Too Cool For School.

I hope this review was helpful for those of you who are thinking about incorporating some Korean skincare options into your routine, or are curious about the benefits of eggs in skincare 🙂

Hi guys I couldn’t help myself-

I’ll post a quick update about all the crazy freebies I’m getting recently!

Warning: whole bunch of pics coming up

What happened is that I won Skinfood’s Facebook giveaway, and they dropped me this hamper worth $100. However, I was sorely disappointed for various reasons (like a broken eyeliner etc.) , and behaved like a spoilt unappreciative little kid and posted this long rant on their page.

I think I must have given them a shock.

But they were extremely courteous and responsive, and I felt really overwhelmed by the kindness and helpfulness of the Skinfood personnel. When I told them that the products did not really suit me, they prepared another hamper from the new line as well as a new eyeliner in a more suitable shade. I can’t even…

Pictures from the new hamper below.

I really love the brown eye pencil, even though it smudges pretty easily and you need to touch up often. It just glides on in such a heavenly way!

(detailed review when I have the time)

After the whole incident, I felt really shameful and won over by their hospitality, so I went down to one of their stores and bought the Peach Sake Toner and Acorn Jelly Mask by way of giving them business ;-;

So, don’t be afraid to stand up for yourselves but do think about how others will feel!

Gosh I feel like a bitch

I feel that getting the eye pencil made it worth it though

Products present: Gold Kiwi Hydrating Mask, Gold Kiwi Emulsion and Toner, Moisture Egg Hair Pack, Hair Loss Care Shampoo (Pomegranate), Brown Creamy Smokey Crayon, Goat Milk and Lavender Stretch Care Cream, No.2 Muffin Cake Finish (Bronzer/ highlighter), Lollipop Gloss or something (gave it away), Omja Whitening Skincare range (toner, emulsion, essence) and Watery Berry Skincare range (toner, emulsion, essence)

I’ll be reviewing My Beauty Diary’s Black Pearl Face Mask today 🙂

Why this first?

Uhhhh cos’ I’m too lazy to whip out my camera to take more new pictures and I’ve taken the pictures for this mask sometime ago.

I don’t have a picture of myself wearing the mask larh cos I don’t want to scare you guys.

Pictures of the packaging~

I got this on Qoo10 and it looks pretty genuine I must say. No misprinting of ingredients like some of the reviews I’ve seen on the Net and the serial number is clearly embossed on.

I didn’t take a pic of the serial number on this packet because it’s black and the camera won’t be able to pick it up very well, but you can see it on the Pearl Whitening Mask picture I took. (below)

The last I checked, none of the fakes have an embossed stamp. Theirs is printed on, and not all the way at the bottom.

 On to the review.

Make sure you store this mask in a cool area because I’ve heard many complaints about the mask turning ‘smelly’ when left in a hot place. So far, I’ve not had this problem. I think it helps to put the mask in the fridge before application.

I love the feeling when it goes on cold on my face!

I’ve not tried warming the mask because I’m afraid it’ll smell.

It has a plastic backing to make for easier transferring of the mask onto your face~

One of the gripes about this mask (and the only thing that ever makes me question its authenticity) is that the mask sheets tend to come in different shapes and sizes. The mask sheet in the picture is my fourth mask, and you can see it’s kinda wide and short.

My first mask, however, was long and didn’t cover the sides very well. I wish they’d come up with a standard shape because I constantly have to tug at it to adjust the mask to my face shape.

There is tons of serum in one mask packet, enough for your arms and legs and neck and you still have some left over to slap on your mask sheet again when it starts drying out!  The amount given is super generous~ and I love it!

The feeling on your skin is slightly sticky at first but it is gradually absorbed and leaves your skin feeling QQ and bouncy and soft!

Gosh I’m sounding really excited about this yeah?

I actually don’t use this as often as I wish I would… because I’m so bloody busy and lazy that the only time I can use these masks is before I sleep, and I don’t want to waste the mask by letting it fall off my face when I toss and turn around (I can’t stay in one position when I sleep

The whitening effect differs for everyone. My classmate recommended this mask to me and the effect is SUPER OBVIOUS on her. You can actually see the line/ border near the side of her chin (at the ears) where she used the mask and the difference in skin tone!!  *amazed*

So when I tried the mask for the first time I made sure to very religiously apply it all over my face and neck so I won’t have ugly tan-line looking marks on the side of my face!

Then I’m not sure if it’s a good thing but it wasn’t super obvious on me LOL. Maybe cos I spread out all the serum and she only piled it on her face??

But I did see a gradual change in my skin tone after about two weeks… you have to be patient about these things! Actually I’m not sure if it’s because it takes time to whiten or I was too engrossed in other things to notice HAHA, I only realised I turned fairer after looking in my bathroom mirror one day ._. how’s that for oblivious??

This is a pretty affordable mask to try out- buy online (and check reviews to see if it’s authentic) for a cheaper price! If you are still iffy, you can get it in SASA/ Guardian/ Watsons etc. for around 14.90-16.90 SGD! SASA has more variety of masks and they usually have stock as compared to the other two.

Loves: Whitening effect, skin feels soft after applying, generous amount of serum

Hates: Non-standard mask shape

Rating: 8/10

Price: I got it on Qoo10 for 9.90 SGD (not selling anymore), 10 mask sheets plus a free mask sheet (Pearl Whitening)

Hey guys~

Today, I’ll be reviewing Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque!

…… LOLWHUT (is that)?

Okay, okay, I know most of you (especially in Asia) will not have heard of this before, but it’s pretty well known in the US!

I must first comment on the size of this.

Not convinced?

Let me give you a size comparison…

With two standard-size lip balms (for some reason all lip balms are the exact same height and size!)

Look at that!

Stack three lip balms up and you get the rough height.

I couldn’t stack three lip balms because I’m uncoordinated and clumsy, okay?

Stop harping on it already!

Okay, now let’s have a look at the label behind-

That sounds pretty good, eh?

I’m kinda iffy about the ingredients though…

Sounds really chemical-y.

Kaolin is sorta like clay (I think it had its roots in China?), and it’s used to make pots and stuff!

So essentially this is like a clay mask- thick and cracks upon hardening.

This mask (masque) is quite refreshing and cooling, but not so much after you wash it off, and when it dries the mint smell fades and the sulfur in this dominates.

Don’t worry guys, sulfur has been proven to be good for the skin and many skin products contain trace amounts!

People go to hot springs for the skin benefits, y’know!

Swimming in sulfur~~

And you get soft, supple skin!

For some reason the mask was quite itchy when I first applied it but when I washed it off there was no redness or irritation, so perhaps it was cos I’m not used to clay masks?

Anyway when I washed it off I got baby-smooth and soft, firm skin, so I quite like the feeling of this mask!

I usually use this just before my bath, so I can wash it off and come out feeling refreshed!

No mess too 🙂

It does dry out your skin, being a clay mask and all, so people with dry skin should apply some moisturiser before and after using this mask!

I just apply my after-bath moisturiser and I’m set!

Loves: Refreshing feeling, baby-smooth skin after using, huge size

Hates: Dries out your skin

Price: 9.10 SGD, bought on Qoo10 (just type the name in the search bar)

Hey guys!

Today, I’ll be telling you one of my beauty secrets :3

Oooh, a secret!

Okay, okay, I’ll tell you now.

Let me tell you what I do whenever I get really bad breakouts. I don’t use skincare products during really bad breakouts except cleanser once in the morning and at night, like mosturisers and whatnot. Instead, I turn to natural methods to get rid of the acne!

To get rid of the dirty bacteria:

I use green bean powder, mixed in water, and apply it like a mask. I bought mine from an organic health food store which has barley and rice bits mixed in for added whitening properties that doubles as a scrub.

It is located near Bukit Batok MRT and goes by the name of ‘Vitality’. My mum bought this for me though, so I’m not sure of the exact location. You should be able to buy it in supermarkets though, as it is used in cooking. You don’t actually need the mixed version. The powder I used last time was purchased from NTUC.

DO NOT BUY ‘GREEN BEAN FLOUR’. It looks very similar. If you don’t see any green bean powder, it goes by an alternative name- mung bean powder, which is the same thing. It should look something like this.

I usually use lukewarm water because I’ve heard the effect is better (opening pores and all) but some people use cold water to reduce the inflammation and redness. If you really want to do that, I suggest you wrap ice in a thin towel and hold it to the inflamed areas (the towel is to prevent you from getting frostbite) after washing off the green bean mask.

This can double as a face scrub due to its texture or you can leave it on as a mask. It will harden and make your face feel tight. You can choose to either peel it off or wash it off.

Anyway, pour a bit of powder onto a small dish and add a bit of water. You should not get a watery mixture. It should look like a thick liquid (I will upload pictures soon)

If you peel it off you get the added bonus of getting rid of dead skin and blackheads on your nose (make sure you apply a suitably thick layer so you can peel it off).

However, if you have dry skin, or a really bad case of acne, it would be better to just wash it off to avoid damaging your skin. I would suggest using warm/lukewarm water to wash off this mask as it clings on well. Too well for my liking when I am in a hurry sometimes ._.

Pat dry after washing your face and if you like, you can apply your preferred mosturiser or follow up with a honey and sugar mask! (I will write about this next time)

Loves: Reduces pores, blackheads, inflammation and swelling, removes dry skin and firms your face. Leaves face feeling smooth and soft

Hates: Hard to wash off at times

Rating: 9/10
