Cute Press Booster Serum & Sleep Mask Review

Hiii all! I’m back with another skincare review today– and it’s one of my favourite skincare brands of late! Cute Press has recently released 3 Booster Serums to serums to go perfectly with their sleeping masks.

Maybe you’ve not seen either product– and I hadn’t either before this year! Their skincare offerings are a relatively new expansion for them– most of us may know them for their popular loose powder, with many tourists stocking up on several containers-worth when they visit Thailand (lol)! 🤣

When they were stocked in Watsons and later on on Shopee I purchased their foundation cushion and loose powder. Highly recommend it as an affordable drugstore brand with a very nice finish! ✨

In all honesty, I didn’t expect to love them as much as I did! Believe me when I say the hype is 100% real! I went through 3 tubs of the stuff between me and my boyf, and purchased them as gifts for my friend to try too 😌 I don’t recommend anything I don’t love!

This serum, combined with the sleeping mask, is intensely hydrating, yet lightweight. My skin felt very hydrated, supple, and firm in the morning.

Appearance-wise, I feel like the boost of hydration helped with smoothing out skin texture and improving radiance. This combination is a favourite with me for my dehydrated yet oily skin.

I use the Calming Cica series whenever I experience bad breakouts, and to help reduce the redness that I usually get in my complexion. I regularly deal with bad maskne + hormonal acne, and this combination helps with reducing redness & soothing my skin.

I like that it’s very gentle and 6-free, with no irritants. Sometimes, I combine this series with the Full Night Sleep range when my skin feels very itchy & dehydrated.

I tend to use the Brightening Booster Serum in the daytime for extra glow. When I first tried their sleeping masks previously, I actually really wanted something that could go under my makeup.

While their sleeping masks were non-sticky, they still aren’t designed to be used under your makeup directly. Applying foundation on top of it– even when dry– may cause piling of the foundation + the hydrogel-like mask formula.

Sure, I would wake up with hydrated, revitalised skin, but I would have to cleanse first before applying my makeup. I wanted a little boost of that little extra something something to keep my skin feeling fresh and hydrated throughout the day– and now I have it!

I reviewed the Scandi range previously and this line is so comfortable and pretty, it has many of my favourites in there. Scandi Olive and Gray are my top picks for everyday lenses.

The Scandi series is slightly smaller in graphic diameter (11.9mm) than most of the other lenses. As compared to the other lenses in this review that are 13.0~13.3mm, these will show off a bit of your natural eye colour at the sides.

This works very well in my opinion because the subtle shading and soft border of the lenses helps it blend very naturally and gives it a subtle limbal ring/ circle lens effect without the harsh black border of the traditional circle lens.

The realistic iris pattern lines in the lens design also helps soften darker eyes and the overall effect is very natural.

Of course, when comparing my natural eye colour to the lenses side by side under a bright light, it looks quite different and starkly contrasting, but when you have them on they look very natural. It’s kinda like your natural eye colour, but there’s just something different about it!

This contacts is BlackPink Jennie’s pick! This shade is super chic and stylish, and would definitely make you stand out without overwhelming your whole makeup look. Under room lighting, the shade even looks greenish-hazel.

Scandi Olive (Rosé’s choice)

I know you’re bored of me saying this constantly, but the Scandi Olive is my eternal favourite and I get compliments on it all the time– people have asked if it is my natural eye colour a few times! It’s not too in your face, like my eyes but better (MEBB? lol).

If you’re afraid of it being too obvious, don’t worry. Indoors, it looks almost brown/hazel– from my experience, you can only tell it is green under bright sunlight.

I wouldn’t say this shade is very green, but like a more natural version of the Scandi Hazel that tends to look quite orange. If you are looking for a contact lens that is more obviously green, try the Russian Smoky Olive (view my review HERE). I love both!

This contacts is BlackPink Rosé’s pick and balances out her feminine + badass energy without overwhelming the entire makeup look. If you are someone who prefers a natural look, I would opt for this shade. It blends in very well with naturally dark brown eyes without it being too ‘in your face’.

I really liked the enlarging effect of this lenses that is still subtle enough to look natural. The realistic iris patterns on it let it blend into my normal dark eyes without it looking too fake, and the large limbal ring effect isn’t too harsh or overwhelming.

This lens reminds me a little bit of the Secriss 3con Natural Gray, which you can view my review for it HERE. These grays have a larger graphic diameter compared to the Scandi range, so it’s something to take note of if you prefer a larger/ smaller graphic range.

Personally, I think this would look AMAZING on people with large/ round eyes like Lisa’s. I have longer/ skinnier eyes, so I tend to go for contacts with a smaller graphic diameter so it does not overwhelm my eyes/ fill up all the white spaces.

This is my personal preference of course, and this contacts would be ideal if you are going for a more dolly/ Japanese/ Korean style makeup look.

This contacts is BlackPink Lisa’s pick. It suits a classy, dolly look very well and colour really makes it look so stylish. I think the Natural Gray would work more for everyday looks, and this for big occasions without being too dramatic.

Vivi Ring Brown (Jisoo’s pick)

BOY OH BOY OH BOY I AM IN LOVE!!!

Do you know which side is my real eye colour?
Answer: Right

It is so subtle and pretty, I love it so much- it is pretty much identical to my eye colour, but I have lighter eyes tbh. For very dark eyes, I feel like this would be the perfect ‘my eyes but better’ shade if you don’t want anyone to know you are wearing coloured contacts!

If you want a bit of a change but aren’t that daring with blue or purple or crazy colours, this is the shade for you. The soft edge helps smoothen out and give your eyes a very fairy-like vibe, and it’s so so lovely for everyday looks.

This brown doesn’t look ‘orange’ which is my gripe with many brown contact lenses, and looks very natural in photos as well.

However, if your eyes are naturally blue/ green/ gray, you might want to opt for the Vivi Ring Choco instead.

With naturally dark brown eyes, they look practically identical, but Choco has more warm/ orangey-pink tones that will help neutralise blue tones for a natural brown colour.

This contact lenses is BlackPink Jisoo’s pick. This contacts has a very romantic, soft feel to it and looks natural too! I would recommend it for daily wear for office/ school settings.

OLENS Russian Smoky Series Review

HELLO FAM!! I’m screaming because I’m so excited!!!

I’m back with another OLENS review! Olens Global reached out to me again with the opportunity to try out their new range, the Russian Smoky OLENS range!

Let me tell you how excited I am to write this– every single colour I have tried from this range is so beautiful and wearable, I have already worn them out a few times! While I have sampled quite a few contacts of every colour, not all of them are as wearable for everyday looks as this one! I think this entire range will definitely be one of the hot favourites for sure.

Immediately, I noticed a few differences– the new Russian Smoky range is 0.6mm bigger in graphic size compared to the Russian Velvet range, which covers the full iris area even more.

What I love about this new line is that it is a little similar to the OLENS Scandi range, with natural blended shades and a soft edge line so it blends in to your natural eye colour very well with no harsh or unnatural edges.

In my opinion the colours are even more beautiful than the Russian Velvet range as there is an extra dimension of depth and patterning! ✨

Not to mention the material is Puscon too, with a higher water content of 48%. They are super comfortable and while you definitely shouldn’t wear them for hours and hours, I experienced no discomfort while wearing it for the entire day to work as well. Definitely an upgrade!!

Russian Smoky Olive

This green covers my dark brown eyes perfectly and I would say it is a more ‘true green’ than the OLens Scandi Olive. I have always raved about the Scandi Olive, but I find myself becoming a little swayed by this colour!

The Russian Smoky Olive lenses have a subtle iris patterning with green and brown that you can really see if you come up close.

This is a true, soft green that you can see in many people with natural green eyes and OLens has truly outdone themselves this time!!

The colour mimics the subtle hazel shifts near the centre in natural green eyes and the green is not unnaturally bright. Super natural and flattering!

The patterns and colour differences help the contacts blend in with your natural eyes a bit more.

Due to the larger graphic diameter, it covers more of your natural eye colour than the Scandi Olive, so you don’t get the ‘limbal ring’ effect where the outer ring is slightly darker.

To avoid any unnatural ‘boundary’ between the contacts and your natural eye colour, there is a soft grey edge line over the darker olive colour.

This helps to accentuate the lighter colour a little more without it looking unnatural on dark eyes.

I think the Scandi Olive is the more natural option, but the Russian Smoky Olive is finally the perfect true soft green lens I can reach for without it looking too bright or unnatural.

Even before I wrote this post, I showed it to my friends and two of them bought this colour immediately (LOL). This shade will definitely become one of my most reached-for lenses for sure!

Russian Smoky Brown

I think this Russian Smoky Brown solved a lot of the problems I had with many brown contact lenses. A lot of brown contact lenses have mixed in yellow, orange, or reddish shades, and when added on top of my natural brown eyes, sometimes look a bit orange under certain lighting.

I’m sure it would look nice on perhaps blue or green eyes, but when added to brown eyes, you can see this effect under bright light.

This Russian Smoky Brown colour is more ashy-brown, with none of the orange or red iris patterns other contacts usually add in. I fell in love with this shade instantly! Usually, I tend to go for olive or grey shades, but this brown is just so beautiful.

The Russian Smoky Brown is a light brown shade that entirely covers dark brown eyes. The realistic iris pattern lines in the lens design helps it blend in very naturally with my dark eyes.

Unlike the Scandi series, there is no limbal ring effect from your natural eye colour underneath the lenses due to the wider diameter on the Russian Smoky lenses, just like the Russian Velvet range.

Unlike the Scandi Olive vs Russian Smoky Olive, I would say this Russian Smoky Brown actually looks even more natural than Scandi Hazel for my eyes.

Scandi Hazel tends to look a little yellowy-orange, especially under bright lighting, and the ashy tones in Russian Smoky Brown help tone down the orange shades while keeping it looking light.

If you want a natural colour that still looks different from your usual dark brown eyes, I would recommend this shade for people who want to have natural-looking and bright eyes. It is very suitable for romantic, girly looks without coming off as too different or unnatural!

This brown shows up perfectly in pictures without looking dark or black like normal dark brown eyes. I think it will be very popular for Japanese-inspired looks!

Russian Smoky Gray

I don’t quite know how to describe this unique shade of grey- it is quite unlike any of the greys I have purchased from OLens previously! It has the soft tones and colouring of the Scandi Light Gray lenses, with a very soft and natural edge.

I prefer this over the Scandi Light Gray as the graphic diameter is a lot bigger, with a soft edge blending to make it super natural.

The issue I had previously with the Scandi Light Gray was that it contrasted quite a bit with my natural eye colour, so even the slightest shift in the lens would reveal my natural colour.

This isn’t an issue with Scandi Olive or Scandi Gray for example, as their darker colour meant the edging blended very nicely with my natural eye colour to give a soft limbal ring effect, but the contrast is quite obvious with the Scandi Light Gray.

Look at the difference! It looks so soft and natural, but the lightness of the grey really gives you that ~exotic~ look lol. This is definitely a shade that stands out! But I think this is a whole lot more natural than the Russian Velvet Gray or Blue, or the Scandi Light Gray– most people with blue eyes have them look blue/ grey under different lighting conditions, instead of a vivid blue like the Russian Velvet Blue.

Scandi Light Gray

I reviewed the Scandi range previously and this line is so comfortable and pretty, it has many of my favourites in there. This shade is relatively new in the Scandi range, so I was quite lucky to be able to try it out.

This contacts is quite similar to Russian Velvet Gray, but again has a more prominent limbal ring effect with the smaller graphic diameter. On my eyes, this is slightly blueish-grey.

If I were to go for a more natural look with blue eyes, this is the style I would go for. Most people with blue eyes have them look blue/ grey under different lighting conditions, instead of a vivid blue like the Scandi Aqua or Russian Silver or Russian Velvet Blue.

This contacts is BlackPink Jennie’s pick! This shade is super chic and stylish, and would definitely make you stand out.

Scandi Hazel

This shade is is a perfect light brown for a natural look. If you have naturally dark brown eyes and want a bit of a change but aren’t that daring with blue or purple or crazy colours, this is the shade for you.

This shade is actually lighter than my favourite Scandi Olive and is a very flattering brown shade that will actually show up in pictures. If you want a natural look, go for this shade!

This contacts is BlackPink Jisoo’s pick and suits her feminine, natural look very well. If you are someone who prefers cosy and natural looks, I would opt for this shade. It blends in very well with naturally dark brown eyes without it being too ‘in your face’.

Secriss 3Con Coral Gray

I really liked the enlarging effect of this lenses that is subtle enough to look natural. The realistic iris patterns on it let it blend into my normal dark eyes better, especially with the gold flecks in the middle to help smooth the transition between dark brown eyes.

This colour is very similar to the Natural Gray, but I think it looks slightly brighter and more vibrant, so I prefer this over the Natural Gray. Indoors, they look practically the same but this has a subtle oomph that I can’t explain!

This contacts is BlackPink Lisa’s pick. It suits a classy, romantic look very well and the added coral colour really makes it look so stylish. I think the Natural Gray would work more for everyday looks, and this for big occasions without being too dramatic.

Secriss 3Con Natural Gray

To be honest, I couldn’t really tell the difference between Natural Gray and Coral Gray! Especially under dim lighting, I feel like they look identical.

Seems like I am not alone in this struggle haha– Olens staff did a review comparison of Natural vs Coral Gray HERE and they couldn’t tell the difference either!

This contact lenses is BlackPink Rose’s pick. This contacts has a very romantic, sweet feel to it and looks natural too! It has a slight enlarging effect as the graphic diameter is larger than the other contacts for daily wear.

OLENS Russian Velvet review

Hello guys! I’m back with another OLENS review! Olens Global reached out to me again with the opportunity to try out some of their other lenses, so I actually have not just one but two!! reviews for y’all! (check out my other post HERE)!

If you haven’t read my previous review on the OLENS Scandi range, I would highly recommend checking that out first HERE. This time, I’m here to review their other popular range, the Russian Velvet series.

I generally tend to go for dailies as I am quite careless and lazy with making sure the lenses are clean and not dried out in the casing, but I rotate between dailies and a few tried-and-tested monthlies that I love as well!

In my opinion, the Russian Velvet series is versatile enough to be used for casual looks and also for cosplay– as the colours are extremely true and solid (entirely hides dark eyes), you can wear these for specific eye colours that are needed without it looking too stark, artificial, or unnatural.

During my anime-obsessed phase I purchased many colour contacts that were simply too unnatural and blended badly or completely did not cover my natural eye colour, and the material and low water content would scratch my eyes and leave them dry and red.

Thank goodness for technology and improvements lol. *war flashbacks* Glad I found OLens now so I don’t have to suffer any more 😂

Russian Velvet Green

This green covers my dark brown eyes perfectly and I would say it is a more ‘true green’ than the OLens Scandi Olive.

The Russian Velvet Green lenses have a gorgeous multi-dimensional effect with green, yellow, and red that you can really see if you come up close. I’d say from afar/ in pictures, it looks a bit more hazel, but you can really see the beautiful details and flecks in bright light or sunlight.

I like that it isn’t just all one solid colour, and the patterns and colour differences help the contacts blend in with your natural eyes a bit more.

I think it’s definitely a really unique shade worth trying and one that will garner lots of attention and compliments from your friends!

Russian Velvet Brown

The Russian Brown is a light brown shade that entirely covers dark brown eyes. The realistic iris pattern lines in the lens design helps it blend in very naturally with my dark eyes. Unlike the Scandi series, there is no limbal ring effect from your natural eye colour underneath the lenses due to the wider diameter on the Russian Velvet lenses. It depends on your preference.

If you want a natural colour that still looks different from your usual dark brown eyes, I would recommend this shade especially for photos. It gives a very subtle brown look that shows up perfectly in pictures without looking dark or black like normal dark brown eyes.

Russian Velvet Blue

Although the blue shade is just gorgeous, I rarely reach for this for everyday wear as it is such a dramatic look! The blue has a tiny bit of yellow at the centre to help the colour blend in with your natural dark eyes, which I really appreciate. It helps to make the contacts look more natural.

From a distance, your eyes look blue/ turquoise due to the subtle blending, and will be absolutely stunning in an artsy IG shot! This striking colour will be perfect if you want to stand out.

Russian Velvet Gray

I adore the grey shade, and alternate between Russian Gray and Scandi Light Gray for certain looks.

I’d say this is more similar to Scandi Light Gray because of its cool, greyish blue tone vs the Scandi Gray, which looks more greyish-green on me and is more of a darker, muted grey.

Again, if I were to go for a more natural look with blue eyes, I would go for the Russian Gray instead of the Blue.
